Australia visa for US passport holders
Entry requirements for a typical one-week tourist stay. Plan your trip with your exact dates for a personalised result.
Do US passport holders need a visa for Australia?
Electronic authorisation required: apply for the ETA before you travel. Without a visa, your nationality must obtain an electronic travel authority (ETA, subclass 601) to visit Australia (Canada states this for its nationals) and travel with the same passport used for the application. The application is made through the Australian ETA app, which charges a service fee of 20 Australian dollars, with no other charge. A tourist stay is possible for up to 90 days; Canada states that business and student visas are required: to work, another visa is needed.
