Mexico visa for US passport holders

Entry requirements for a typical one-week tourist stay. Plan your trip with your exact dates for a personalised result.

Do US passport holders need a visa for Mexico?

No visa for stays of up to 180 days. Your nationality is not on the official Mexican list of countries that need a visa: tourism, business or any other visit without paid activity in Mexico needs no visa, for up to 180 days. The immigration officer sets the length on arrival. At airports the immigration form is generated on entry; by land, you must fill in the multiple immigration form (FMM). You may be asked for supporting documents (hotel, return ticket, itinerary). According to Gouvernement du Canada (Affaires mondiales): "Tourist visa: not required for stays of up to 180 days"
